TEAM CENTRAL GYMNASTIC ACADEMY - UNIQUE TO ST. LOUIS
Team Central Gymnastic Academy was featured by Channel 5 as the prelude to the 2004 Olympics.
We are a 22,000 square foot, not-for-profit, 501-C-3, national gymnastic training center, unique to St. Louis and one of only a few in the nation. Team Central Gymnastic Academy is dedicated to positively influencing the life of every child, and creating a world-class gymnastics organization.
Team Central Gymnastic Academy is located in Maryland Heights and offers various classes and programs for girls and boys ages toddler through teenage. We also offer a unique national training center to nurture our competitive team program. This allows families to live in St. Louis while their children train locally for future state, regional, and national level competitions. On a weekly basis up to 1400 families visit our center.
Programs for the Community
Team Central offers special activities throughout the year to the community. We offer many programs for children ages toddler through teenage and also adult gymnastics. Team Central offers weekly daytime and evening gymnastics, cheerleading, and tumbling & trampoline classes, as well as daytime home school, pre-school and daycare gymnastic classes. We also offer September through May “School's Out" 8 am-5 pm Full-Day and Half-Day Camps held at Team Central for every elementary school in the St Louis area. We also offer June through August Daily 8:00 am-5:00 pm Summer Day Camps for children ages 5-12 years. Our highly regarded day camps are endorsed by local school districts and private schools because our physically active programs build children's strength, confidence and self-esteem. We also offer Birthday Parties and a monthly "Kid's Night Out”. Field Trips are offered to groups such as girl scouts, boy scouts, summer camp groups, schools and special needs groups. We have over 1500 children from the community attend our exciting field trips each year. Thousands of St. Louis area children benefit from our unique programs yearly. In August each year our children ages 3 1/2 through teenage perform at Busch Stadium on the field before the Cardinals baseball game.
“Cardinal Power Kids” program sponsored by the St. Louis Cardinals Care Organization
Team Central Gymnastic Academy offers programs and scholarships for children who are developmentally delayed or physically challenged in our “Cardinal Power Kids” program. In 2002, Team Central was honored to host the first Special Olympic State Gymnastic meet in St. Louis history. We offer unique modified weekly gymnastic and movement classes as a form of fun physical therapy for special-needs children. We also offer modified field trips to organizations such as Ranken-Jordan, Giant Steps, Special School District and other groups. Wheelchair bound children are also welcome. A physical therapist from Ranken-Jordan stated that our exciting program offers the best physical therapy for their children outside of their facility in a fun, stimulating environment. She stated, “The children are smiling and attempt new things they would not attempt in regular physical therapy. The children are having so much fun they do not realize that they are receiving physical therapy.”
Outstanding Competitive Team
Our competitive team program has had many successes throughout Team Central's 15 years. We have provided the opportunity for eleven gymnasts to attain college gymnastic scholarships. In 2008 Team Central featured 51 champions at the state and regional level.
Largest Gymnastic Meets in St. Louis
Each year Team Central hosts an annual women's gymnastic meet at the Americas Center in downtown St. Louis called the “St. Louis Classic Gymnastic Meet. The 2008 St. Louis Classic Meet sponsored by National City and Siemens was the largest female gymnastic meet held in St. Louis. This premier event has been known to bring in teams from all over the country. We expect over 1200 gymnasts from all over the country to participate in the prestigious 2009 St. Louis Classic Gymnastic meet to be held March 6-8, 2009 at the Americas Center.
